What is papain? Papain is an enzyme found in the latex between the rind and pulp of papaya, the fruit of the papaya tree. Like pineapple bromelain, it is capable of digesting proteins.
Properties of papain: With age, or due to certain diseases, the pancreas may not produce enough proteolytic enzymes to ensure proper protein digestion. Papain can compensate for such a deficiency. Dr Clark also recommends papain for lowering ferritin levels.
Recommended use: Adults and children aged 12 and over: 2 capsules with each meal or as recommended.
Safety precautions: Keep out of reach of young children. Store in a cool, dry place. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet.
Ingredients: Papain, hypromellose.
