Beneficial properties of phytic acid
The beneficial properties of phytic acid were highlighted in a comprehensive study published in the journal Food Chemistry (Kumar and others, 2010). For example, phytic acid is a powerful antioxidant, helping to protect the body against cell degeneration. It could therefore play an anti-carcinogenic role.
According to some indications, phytic acid may also have a protective effect against diabetes, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, kidney stone formation and HIV toxicity. However, the doses of phytic acid required for this purpose are not yet known.
