Designation

There is some confusion about the name frankincense, as there are several different species. This variety is Boswellia serrata, native to India.

Common names: Indian incense, boswellie, boswellia, incense tree.

English designation: Boswellia, frankincense, Indian frankincense

Usage

A true spiritual stimulant, frankincense essential oil has many virtues for your everyday care. It relieves depression, boosts the immune system, regenerates irritated skin and aids healing. It also effectively deodorizes the home.

Why use it?

- Anti-depressant : for anxiety, stress, depression, or to restore self-confidence.

- Anti-inflammatory: to relieve rheumatic pain, osteoarthritis, arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, wounds and skin irritations.

- Chronic inflammatory joint diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, arthritis, etc.).

- Healing: for damaged skin.

- Expectorant: for airway infections.

- Immunostimulant: in cases of weakened immune defenses and risk of viral infections.

- Meditative: for spiritual quietude, creative memory and concentration.

How to use incense

Frankincense oil can be filled into a spray bottle, making it ideal for dissolving bronchial mucus.

Frankincense oil can also be placed in a few drops on the tongue or used in tea.

For use on the skin, frankincense oil can be mixed with a carrier oil such as coconut oil and then applied to the skin. But test a small area of skin first to make sure it doesn't cause an allergic reaction.

For asthma and other infections, and to reduce stress and hyperactivity, apply a few drops to a cloth/tissue and inhale several times a day, or use as a spray.

Note

Dr. Clark mentions in his books the great effectiveness of Frankincense oil in combating viral dissemination (any type of virus). His recommendation is to take 1 to 2 drops of undiluted Frankincense on the tongue, without swallowing, simply letting the oil dissipate in the mouth. You can repeat this once or twice a day, to work daily in depth, until health is restored.

Precautions for use

Not recommended during the first 5 months of pregnancy or for children up to 3 years of age.
