What's it all about?
Traditionally, the Chinese used the ginkgo fruit kernel as both food and medicine, notably to treat asthma and certain respiratory disorders (bronchitis).
Properties
In Europe, standardized ginkgo extract is considered to be at least as effective as conventional drugs in delaying the progression of Alzheimer's disease, as well as in alleviating other disorders associated with cognitive decline.
Gingko also appears to be effective in treating anxiety and preventing cardiovascular disease, thanks to its ability to increase blood vessel diameter (vasodilator effect) and inhibit platelet aggregation (anti-platelet effect).
Note
Note: Not all ginkgo biloba leaf extracts on the market are of equal quality. We recommend products containing the standardized extracts EGb 761 or Li 1370, used in the majority of clinical trials and standardized to 24% glucoflavonoids and 6% terpeno-lactones. This is the standard for Dr Clark's Ginkgo capsules (standardized to 24% Ginkgo flavonoids and 6% terpene lactones).
Dosage
For adults and children aged 12 and over: 1 capsule 2 times a day on an empty stomach or as recommended.
